steppin on a fire hose

Well, Brady did it again. Check out this post on The Wizard of Odds the other day.

I noticed they were running this competition (no doubt partly inspired by your very own ISU Cyclones) where readers can submit their own ideas for smack-talking billboards.

Well, to further illustrate the nervousness of hawk fans in the state of Iowa, Brady sent this billboard in which bad-mouths our AD, Jamie Pollard. Saying that Pollard is the devil, and he needs not just our support but our souls, blah blah blah.

What emotion is this? I thought the all-powerful Hawkeyes had bigger fish to fry in the Little 11? Let's look a little closer.
  • Hawk fans are jealous. Is that what this is? You guys have a "San Diego" for an AD in Barta. You want to know what is funny? I had to Google "Iowa Hawkeyes Athletic Director" to make sure I knew his name. Do you think many people have to do that about Pollard? Think that pisses Hawk fans off a little? I do. That's what leads to irrational behavior like drawing horns on JP's head.
  • Hawk fans are scared. They are not alone on the front page anymore. If they are it is all DM Register media bias bullcrap that most people have started to quit reading by now anyways.
  • Hawk fans are hawk fans. Some may understand what that means, some may THINK they understand, and others will just keep reading...
The fact is, it is still NOT a Cyclone state, and it NEVER WILL BE. I think that for now, ISU fans can live with that. But the percentages are changing.

Youngsters in grade school are now PROUD to be an ISU fan. Before it was Hawkeye or nothing. Now I think it is EASIER to make fun of hawk fans than it is Cyclone fans. Hawkeye fans are the spoiled brats, while Cyclone fans are the good-hearted rebels starting an underground revolution.

In other words, Hawk fans are Shooter McGavin's, and Cyclone fans are Happy Gilmore's. Hawk fans eat pieces of shit for breakfast, while Cyclone fans win the 'ships, and kiss the chicks.

Living in Ankeny, IA I see more personalized ISU plates than I have ever seen before. I see flags, bumper stickers, window stickers, clothing, etc. etc. Cyclone pride has slowly started to take over Ankeny. Before you know it, other areas of the Des Moines Metro will be tinted Cardinal and Gold as well.

After that, the world. Ha. Honestly though, either fans are just now admitting that they are cyclone fans, or they have been turned from the dark side -- either way it's cool, and either way hawk fans are peeing themselves.

Come on D, I don't think it's hawk fans being scared or jealous, that's just plain silly!

For me it's more giving shit back to where it came it from. There's always some ISU fan out there talking shit and I as a Hawk fan enjoy giving it back!! That's not to say Iowa doesn't do the same, i'm just biased, not unlike yourself!

Do I think Iowa is the dominate football team in the state, sure do! Do I bite all my nails and stress like Holy hell come IA vs ISU weekend? Damn straight!!

You're site and my site merely emphasize the disdain we as rivals share, it's hatred plain and simple!

ps....You're so jealous of my Billboard!!! ISU fans are scared!

Talking shit is what it's all about. Without that, this whole "rivalry" is ultimo-boring.

Smack talking is one of life's greatest pleasures. I am not trying to keep you from doing it, I am just making sure you know it wasn't unheard.

And actually, I am a little jealous of your billboard. I would make one myself, but we already have a billmaster to that, and he goes by the name Jamie Pollard.
